Summary of Case:

"Vladimir Dolgov and Alexander Shadrov are Russian engineers among 24 Eastern European engineers -- two Russians, three Belarusians, and 19 Ukrainians -- arrested on September 6, 2011, and wrongly convicted on June 4, 2012 by a Libyan military court of working on missles for the Libyan government during the uprising that toppled Muammar al-Gaddafi from power. Shadrov was also convicted of being a leader of "mercenaries." Shadrov was sentenced to life in prison while the others were sentenced to 10 years in prison. The Russian government advocated on behalf of Shadrov and Dolgov. In August 2013 Libya’s Supreme Military Court overturned the convictions of Shadrov and Dolgov. Their cases were turned over to a civilian court and they remained in custody as of February 2014. The 22 other defendants appealed separately."
