Summary of Case:

"Gerard Domond was wrongly convicted in 1989 of the 1987 shooting murder of Patrick Hinkson outside a club in Kings County, New York. Domond had a lenghty criminal record, and he was prosecuted on the basis of a single eyewitness that he was the person who shot Hinkson during a drug deal gone wrong. After being incarcerated for 29 years, Domond was released on parole in 2016. On October 30, 2020 Domond's conviction was overturned with the support of the Kings County District Attorney's Office that acknowledged they had insufficient evidence to support his conviction, and exculpatory evidence had been withheld from his trial lawyer. The DA's Office acknowledged the lone eyewitness had been held in a psychiatric ward for months before testifying as part of a cooperation agreement with the prosecution."
