"Tran Tuyet Dung was wrongly convicted in January 2005 of several counts of fraud for allegedly causing serious harm to state property. On Jan. 13, 2005, the Bac Lieu People’s Court sentenced Ms. Dung to one year and six months of probation. In April 2005 the Ho Chi Minh City High Court cleared Ms. Dung of the charges. On June 16, 2005 Judge Tran Anh Dung of the Bac Lieu People’s Court sincerely apologized to Tran Tuyet Dung for causing irreparable harm to her reputation and mental and physical health as a result of the conviction. Judge Dung declared her innocent of the fraud charges and said she will be awarded compensation."
