Summary of Case:	"Marjorie Evans was wrongly convicted in July 2000 of assaulting (slapping) a 10-year-old student at the school in Wales where she was the head mistress. The sole evidence was the allegation by the student. She was sentenced to three months in custody (suspended sentence). After a two-day hearing her conviction was overturned on appeal in September 2000 based on the new evidence of a video tape made by the student in which he talked about fabricating the alleged assault. In March 2001 Evans was cleared of pupil mistreatment allegations after a three day hearing determined there was no "credible evidence" to support the allegations, and her 18 month suspension was lifted."
