"298 wrongful drug convictions were identified as the result of inaccurate presumptive tests in Harris County, Texas through July 2016. All 298 persons pled guilty to lesser charges in order to minimize their sentence if they had been convicted after a trial. The convictions were vacated based on post-conviction laboratory testing of the evidence that showed the substance in the persons possession wasn't an illegal controlled substance."
