Summary of Case:

"Anthony Faison was codefendant of Charles Shepherd. Both men were convicted by a jury of second-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison based on a mistaken eyewitness identification. Faison wrote 62,000 letters proclaiming his innocence. Faison and Shepherd were exonerated by fingerprints that didn't match those of the confessed killer found at the crime scene of a cab driver's murder on March 14, 1987. Faison was awarded $1,650,000 in compensation in January 2003 for 14 years of wrongful imprisonment by the New York State Court of Claims. Faison also filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the City of New York, which was settled for $360,000 in 2003."
