"Perry Lee Farmer was wrongly convicted in 1983 of capital murder during a 1981 burglary, and sentenced to death. Spent 8 years on death row before his sentenced was vacated and he was sentenced to life in prison. In 1997 a federal court reversed his conviction on the basis of incompetent counsel and he was acquitted in 1999 after a retrial, when evidence was presented that another man had committed the murder."
