Summary of Case:

"Wrongly convicted of committing acts of "gross indecency" and wrongful confinement against two boys in a school van he drove, even though two other boys in the van testified that nothing happened and they waited before getting out of the van because it was raining so heavily. Ranjit Fernando was sentenced to 10 years hard imprisonment. On appeal Sri Lanka's Court of Appeal ruled that the prosecution had presented insufficient evidence to prove the elements of the offense, and the contradictory testimony didn't overcome the prosecution's burden of proof.
