"James R. Fisher, aka Bill Fisher was codefendant of John Carney. Both men were convicted by a federal court jury in Dallas, Texas of conspiracy to commit mail fraud, wire fraud, making false statements, and bank fraud. After their convictions by a jury both Fisher and Carney were sentenced to 87 months in prison, followed by five years' supervised release, and payment of $895,000 in restitution. The convictions of James Fisher and John Carney were overturned by the federal 5th Circuit Court of Appeals on multiple grounds in January 1997. They were acquitted by a jury on October 3, 1997 after a retrial."
