Fowler was sentenced to 3 years probation and a fine of $375. Both of Fowler's co-defendants went to trial, with one convicted of second degree murder and the other of involuntary manslaughter. in 2011 Folwler filed a 1203.4 petition withdrawing her guilty plea which was granted on August 2, 2011, and her conviction was expunged. The Kern County DA's Office didn't oppose Fowler's 1203.4 petition, which allows a defendant convicted of a misdemeanor to withdraw his or her guilty plea and change it to not guilty."
