"Leo M. Frank was wrongly convicted in 1913 of murdering 13-year-old Mary Phagan who worked at the Atlanta pencil factory managed by Frank. After his death sentence was commuted to life in prison by Georgia's governor, in August 1915 a mob stormed the state prison where Frank was jailed and kidnapped him. He was lynched by the mob. In 1986 Leo Frank was granted a posthumous pardon by the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles." |
