Summary of Case:	"Bishoy Kameel Garas was wrongly conivcted in 2012 in Cairo, Egypt of defamation of Islam. Garas' prosecution was based on a Facebook account created in September 2012 in his name, on which many statements affronting Islam were posted, and the former president of Egypt, Mohamed Morsi was ridiculed, as well as a sister of a Muslim sheikh. Garas, a Christian and an English teacher, was prosecuted even though he alerted police about the fake account. After his conviction Garas was sentenced to six years in prison. On July 25, 2015 a senior court in Cairo ruled that Garas' sentence was ruled excessive, and he was releaed on October 9, 2015 after about three years in custody. On March 13, 2016 the appeals court in Cairo set-aside Garas' conviction based on the evidence supporting his innocence that the identity of the cyber-hacker who created the fake account in his name was known. The Court also ruled, "The defendant will have his three years in jail as credit, to be debited in case he's sentenced for any future offenses," However, Although Garas will not receive any compensation for his wrongful incarceration."
