Summary of Case:	"Jose Garcia and Carlos Morillo were codefendants. Both men were wrongly convicted on January 8, 1993 of a murder committed on July 16, 1991, in the Bronx area of New York City, when Garcia was 1,550 miles away in the Dominican Republic. On December 20, 2006, a U.S. District Court judge vacated Jose Garcia's conviction based on his counsel's ineffectiveness for not investigating the evidence that he was out of the country at the time of the crime. Garcia was released on February 21, 2007, after the charges were dismissed by the prosecution."
