Summary of Case:

"Wrongly convicted in 1983 for the abduction and murder of a 10-year-old South Australian schoolgirl. The south Australian Court of Criminal Appeal unanimously quashed Geesing's conviction on April 12, 1985, ruling his conviction was based on two unreliable and untrustworthy prisoner informants. One prisoner retracted his statement, and the other's information was declared inadmissible. The Court of Appeals ruled that there be no retrial, and ordered Geesing's release after 17 months of wrongful imprisonment."
