Summary of Case:

"John Geoghan's 2002 convictions of indecent assault and battery of a child in 1991 when he was a Catholic priest in Cambridge Massachusetts were vacated and his indictment was dismissed by order of the Massachusetts Court of Appeals on September 17, 2003, after Geoghan was strangled to death in prison on August 23, 2003 while his direct appeal was pending. Geoghan was convicted by a jury based on the testimony of his alleged victim that in 1991 he grabbed the then 10-year-old boy's buttocks, which Geoghan denied. Geoghan was sentenced to 9 to 10 years in prison. Joseph L. Druce was convicted of Geoghan's murder and his conviction was affirmed by the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts on April 27, 2009."
