"Raymond Gilmour was wrongly convicted on June 7, 1982 of the rape and murder of a 16-year-old girl in Scotland. Gilmour was sentenced to life in prison. Gilmour submitted an application to Scotland's Criminal Case Review Commission (SCCRC) for review of his conviction as a miscarriage of justice. Gilmour's case was referred by the SCCRC on July 13, 2001 to Scotland's Court of Appeal. He was released on parole in 2002. On August 30, 2007 Scotland's Court of Appeals quashed Gilmour's convictions on the basis of new evidence." |
