Summary of Case:	"Albert Godamune was wrongly convicted on January 10, 1931 in Ceylon of two counts of dishonestly misappropriating money from two different people. Ceylon is now known as Sri Lanka. After Godamune's conviction by a jury he was sentenced to one year of rigorous imprisonment on each count to be served concurrently, for a total sentence of two years imprisonment. On March 2, 1931 Ceylon's Supreme Court affirmed his convictions and sentence. Ceylon was a British colony, and Godamune appealed to The Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in London which was the highest judicial court for Ceylon. On November 10, 1932 the Privy Council set-aside Godamune's convictions on the basis there was no case for him to answer, that is there was insufficient evidence to prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt that the monies paid to him were the property of the two persons whose money he was alleged to have misappropriated."
