Summary of Case:	"Angel Gonzalez was wrongly convicted in 1997 of destroying the sink in a solitary confinement cell while incarcerated at a state prison in Livingston County, Illinois for rape and kidnapping.. Gonzalez was sentenced to three years in prison for destroying state property that was consecutive to his previous convictions. On March 9, 2015 a Lake County judge dismissed Gonzalez' rape and kidnapping charges based on new exculpatory DNA evidence that excluded him as the woman's assailant. Gonzalez would then have to begin serving his three year sentence. His lawyers filed a petition to vacate his property destruction conviction, arguing the crime had occurred while he was wrongfully imprisoned and that Gonzalez, who speaks limited English, had pled guilty to damaging the sink without an interpreter present. The Livingston County State's Attorney did not oppose the petition, and it was granted on March 10, 2015 by a Livingston County judge. Gonzalez was released later in the day on March 10."
