Summary of Case:

"Donald Wayne Good was wrongly convicted in 1984 of raping a woman and burglarizing her Irving, Texas home on June 9, 1983. Good was 23 when he was arrested, and his conviction was based on his identification by the victim and her 8-year-old daughter. He was sentenced to life in prison. Charges were dismissed in 2004 based on DNA testing unavailable at the time of his trial that excluded him as the woman's assailant. Good was imprisoned for a total of 13 years 7 months. Good filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the City of Irving, the police department and an officer who he claimed rigged line-up photos to make it more likely the woman and her daughter would pick him. On March 24, 2011 the Irving City Council agreed to settle Good's lawsuit for $1 million. $700,000 was to be paid by the city and $300,000 was to be paid by its insurer. Good was 51-years-old."
