"Andrew William Gossett was wrongly convicted of sexual assault in 2000 based on an erroneous identification by the victim. Andrew Gossett was sentenced to 50 years in prison. In December 2006 DNA tests of crime scene evidence excluded him as the woman's assailant. Gossett was released on January 4, 2007 after seven years of wrongful imprisonment. In April 2007 the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals declared Gossett was "actually innocent" of the crime."
