Summary of Case:

"Michael Gracia was wrongly convicted in 1997 of assaulting a police officer in 1996 for assaulting an officer during a pro-cycling demonstration in London, England. Years later it was discovered that Gracia's co-defendant used a fake name and was an undercover police officer named Jim Boyling. During Gracia's trial Boyling testfied under his fake name. In 2015 Gracia filed a motion based on the new evidence to quash his conviction as a miscarriage of justice. On June 23, 2015 the prosecution informed the Southwark Crown Court in London that it would not oppose the quashing of Gracia's conviction. The quashing of Gracia's conviction brings to 57 the number of protesters who have been wrongly convicted or prosecuted in recent years because the activities of police spies was hidden by the prosecution during their trials."
