Summary of Case:

"Sammy Hadaway was co-defendant of Chaunte Ott. Hadaway was wrongly convicted in 1996 of attempted robbery committed in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin in 1995. Hadaway pled guilty in exchange for reduced charges, and testifying against Ott during his trial. Hadaway was sentenced to 5 years in prison. Ott was cleared of his murder conviction 2009 based on DNA tests that excluded him as the girl's murderer. Based on evidence developed during the investigation of Ott's case, Hadaway filed a petition to withdraw his guilty plea that was denied by the trial court. Hadaway appealed. Hadaway's petition to withdraw his guilty plea was granted on August 14, 2018 by the Wisconsin Court of Appeals. The Milwaukee County DA declined to retry Hadaway and his charges were dismissed on October 8, 2018."
