Summary of Case:

"Aba Rama Handal and Ramchandra Rama Handal were brothers wrongly convicted of culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the death of two men Solapur, India. Their defense was they had acted in self-defense when the two deceased men came to the house of Rama Handal and tried to extort money at knifepoint. After the duo inflicted injuries on Ramaa when he refused to pay, Rama and his children Aba and Ramachandra retaliated by hitting the extortionists with sticks and stones. In June 2013 the Bombay High Court acquitted the two people men ruling that the evidence supported that they had acted in self-defense under Section 100 of the Indian Penal Code. The codefendant of Aba Handal and Ramchandra Handal, their father Rama Handal, had been acquitted at trial."
