Summary of Case:

"Greg Hardy was convicted on July 15, 2014 of committing misdemeanor domestic assault and threats against his girlfriend on May 13, 2014 in Charlotte, North Carolina. On May 13 Hardy, 25, called 911 and reported that his girlfriend, 24-year-old Nicole Holder was abusing him. When the police arrived she accused Hardy of physically abusing her and threatening her. Hardy was arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault on a female and communicating threats. During Hardy's bench trial in the Mecklenburg County District Court the prosecution's case was based solely on the testimony of Holder, which Hardy denied. After hearing the "he said, she said" testimony the judge found Hardy guilty of both charges. Hardy was sentenced to 60 days in jail (suspended pending good behavior) and 18 months of probation. Hardy's sentence was stayed pending the outcome of his appeal, which requested a jury trial in Mecklenburg Superior Court. On February 9, 2015 Hardy's conviction was vacated and the charges dismissed when the complainant failed to appear for the superior court trial, and the prosecution informed the court she couldn't be located."
