Summary of Case:	"Dion Harrell was wrongly convicted in 1992 of raping a girl in Monmouth County, California on Sept. 18, 1988. After his conviction by a jury based on the girl's identification, Harrell was sentenced to eight years in prison. Harrell was released on parole in 1997, after serving more than four years in prison. After his release he was convicted two times for failing to register as a sex offender, and served time in custody. In February 2015 the Monmouth County District Attorney dropped his opposition to post-conviction DNA testing of crime scene evidence. Those tests excluded Harrell as the young woman's assailant. On August 3, 2016 a motion by the Monmouth County DA's Office to dismiss the charges against Dion Harrell was granted, based on the post-conviction DNA testing that excluded him as the victim's assailant."
