"Wajih-ul-Hassan (aka Wajeehul Hassan) was wrongly convicted in 2002 of blasphemy against the prophet Muhammad in Pakistan in 1998. He was arrested and charged in 2001. After his conviction Hassan was sentenced to death. On September 25, 2019 a three-judge panel of Pakistan's Supreme Court acquitted Hassan in ruling the prosecution failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt the letters, which were the basis of blasphemy allegations against Hassan and his conviction, were actually written by him.
