Summary of Case:	"George Hayden was convicted in 2010 of the 1972 shooting murder of William Miller in Onslow County, North Carolina. Hayden was the boyfriend of Miller's wife, who left Miller when he returned from a year's service as a Marine in Okinawa, Japan. Hayden's conviction was based on circumstantial evidence 38 years after the crime. He was sentenced to life in prison. On June 7, 2011 the North Carolina Court of Appeals overturned Hayden's conviction based on insufficiency of the evidence. The Court wrote in its opinion, "No evidence was presented to connect defendant with the crime scene at any time, much less the time the crime was committed, and no murder weapon was introduced at trial.""
