Summary of Case:	"Alejandro Hernandez was wrongly convicted on October 19, 1994 for the murder of a homeless man in El Paso, Texas on May 11, 1994. Hernandez was arrested two days after the murder on May 13, 1994. The primary evidence the jury relied on was the testimony of a witness that Hernandez was the killer. Hernandez was sentenced to 99 years. On June 21, 2006, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals overturned Hernandez's conviction, and he was subsequently released when the charges were dismissed after about 12 years and 3 months of incarceration. He filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the City of El Paso and seven police officers on July 21, 2008."
