Summary of Case: |
"Chow Nok-hang and Wong Hin-wai were wrongly convicted of causing a breach of the peace by publicly disrupting for about one minute a speech by Hong Kong's Secretary for Transport and Housing. The men were protesting train fares. Both men were sentenced to 14 days incarceration. In November 2013 Hong Kong's appeals court overturned the convictions on the basis the prosecution didn't introduce any evidence the men intended to "prevent" the speech from taking place as required by the Public Order Ordinance under which they were convicted." |
