"Nguyen Hoc (aka Hoc Thai Vu, aka Thin Vu, aka Vu Hoc Thai) was wrongly convicted in 1987 of a murder committed in Manhattan on August 31, 1986. The prosecution's case was entirely circumstantial. After his conviction by a jury of second-degree murder Hoc was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison. On January 26, 1989 the New York Supreme Couet Appellate Division reversed Hoc's conviction on the basis the prosecution introuduced insufficient evidence of Hoc's guilt and ordered dismissal of his indictment." |
