Summary of Case:

"Crystal Holliday was the wife of co-defendants Cordez Graham, and Angela Barnes. Graham and Holliday were wrongly convicted by a jury on December 11, 2003 of conspiracy for using counterfeit receipts to defraud a nationwide retail chain -- Bed, Bath & Beyond -- out of $29,494 from November 2002 to January 22, 2003. The convictions of Graham and Holliday were reversed in March 2004 prior to their sentencing. To try and minimize her punishment Angela Barnes pled guilty to conspiracy on May 8, 2003 and agreed to be a cooperative witness against Graham and Holliday. On February 26, 2004 Barnes was sentenced to 3 months in custody (time served after her arrest on 10-9-2003 to her release on 1-9-2004), 3 years of supervised release, and payment of $29,499.57 in restitution to Bed, Bath & Beyond. In overturning the convictions of Graham and Holliday who were convicted after a trial, Federal Judge Standish stated that based on his ruling exonerating those two defendants, that Angela "Barnes has a right to have her conviction set aside." Consequently, federal prosecutors pressured Barnes into pleading guilty to a non-existent crime. It isn't known if Barnes pursued the overturning of her conviction."
