Summary of Case:	"Matthew Huang and Grace Huang were a married couple that were codefendants wrongly convicted in April 2014 of starving their adopted African born 8-year-old daughter Gloria to death in Qatar. Gloria died on January 15, 2013. The Huang's were U.S. citizens from Los Angeles. The Huang's moved to Qatar in 2012 with Grace and their two other children, so Matthew could work at overseeing an infrastructure project related to the 2022 soccer World Cup. An autopsy found that Gloria died of "cachexia and dehydration," and the day after Gloria's death the Huang's were arrested and charged with "murder with intent by forced starvation." Cachexia is an irreversible loss of body mass. During their trial in April, 2014 the couple's defense was Gloria had been suffering from malnutrition-related diseases since they adopted her from Ghana at the age of four, and defense witnesses testified that Gloria appeared relatively healthy just days before she died. After their convictions the Huang's were sentenced to three years in prison. On November 30, 2014 an appeals court in Qatar overturned the Huang's convictions."
