Summary of Case:

"Joseph Huett was wrongly convicted of manslaughter in the death of an acquaintance in August 1935 in Reynolds County, Missouri. A witness, Lee Bowles, testified at Huett's trial that Huett fired without provocation. After the jury convicted Huett he was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment. Seven months later Bowles went to the police and confessed he committed perjury during Huett's trial because Huett had in fact shot the victim in self-defense. Based on the new evidence no crime had been committed, the charge against Huett was dismissed and he was released from prison."
