Summary of Case:

"Regina Hungerford was a teacher wrongly convicted in 2015 of misdemeanor assault for allegedly striking a 17-year-old boy in her class who claimed she hit him with the book for playing a music video on his phone in class in 2014 at Merthyr Tydfil College in Merthyr, South Wales. During her trial, the 54-year-old Hungerford, a mother-of-two, admitted she lost her temper and shouted at the boy before throwing his phone out of a classroom window. However, she steadfastly denied striking the young man. Her conviction was based on the testimony of the student. She faced a lifetime ban from teaching, and she appealed. In December 2015 Hungerford's conviction for common assault was quashed by a panel of a judge and two magistrates at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court."
