Summary of Case:	"Wayne Anthony Huss was wrongly convicted on July 1, 2011 of raping and kidnapping his former girlfriend on May 9, 2007. The prosecution's case was based on the alleged victim's testimony. After his convictions Huss was sentenced to consecutive terms of 71 to 95 months for his rape and kidnapping convictions. Huss appealed. On November 20, 2012 the North Carolina Court of Appeals overturned Huss' convictions, ruling that the prosecution introduced insufficient evidence to support that Huss raped or kidnapped the woman. The State petitioned the N. C. Supreme Court, which accepted review of the case. On November 8, 2013 the supreme court voted 3 to 3, which meant the appeals court's ruling stood. Huss was released from custody on December 3, 2013, after 2 years and 5 months in custody."
