"Ralph Jacobs Jr. was co-defendant of Christopher Smith. Both were wrongly convicted in 1991 after falsely confessing and then pleading guilty guilty to the murder of a New Castle, Indiana drug dealer. Smith was sentenced to thirty-eight years and Jacobs to eight. Both had been imprisoned for eighteen months when the police arrested the true killer, who was linked to the crime by physical evidence, and eventually convicted. Both men were mentally handicapped adults."
