"Ryan James was falsely convicted in May 1995 of murdering his wife Sandra in January 1994. In July 1998 his conviction was reversed after the discovery of a handwritten suicide note more than two years after her death indicating she intended to make her suicide look like a murder to frame him as revenge for the breakdown of their marriage and his affair: The note said: "Ryan, I leave you absolutely nothing but this note - if you find it in time. Sam." Sam was Mrs. James' pet name." Mr. James had steadfastly maintained his innocence."
