Summary of Case:	"John Jeffers was wrongly convicted in 1977 of abducting and murdering a 23-year-old woman two years earlier. Seventeen-year-old John Jeffers confessed to the crimes while in a juvenile facility. Jeffers also implicated a male friend, which didn't match the statement of the young man who was with the young woman, but who was locked in the trunk, while the woman was abducted. The eyewitness said a man and a woman abducted his girlfriend. Jeffers friend was arrested and charged. He was however, released after being jailed for 9 months and all charges were dropped against him. After pleading guilty Jeffers was sentenced to 34 years in prison. Jeffers died in prison five years later, in 1982. "

Innocence Proved By:	"One of the actual perpetrators, a woman, walked into a police station in 2001 and confessed to the woman's abduction and murder. She provided details that had never been publicly released and that would only have been known to someone involved in the crime. The woman said that she and her former husband and her committed the crime, which matched the original statement of the young man who was present when the victim was abducted."
