Summary of Case:	"Amanda Jenkinson was wrongly convicted in November 1996 of causing a hospital patient grievous bodily harm by allegedly altering the setting on the patient's ventilator in 1993. Jenkinson was sentenced to five years imprisonment. She was struck off the nursing register in 1998. She was refused parole because she wouldn't admit guilt. Ms. Jenkinson served all but a few months of her sentence before her release in in 2000 after a legal challenge to her conviction was lodged. On November 17, 2005 the Court of Appeals quashed Amanda Jenkinson's conviction on the basis that crucial expert evidence during her trial had been "misleading and inaccurate." In March 2009 a High Court judge quashed the Nursing and Midwifer Council's 1998 finding that she was guilty of "misconduct." Ms. Jenkinson was reinstated on the Nursing Registration following the High Court judgment."
