Summary of Case:	"Bobby Johnson was wrongly convicted in July 2007 of the murder of 70-year-old Herbert Fields in New Haven, Connecticut on August 1, 2006. Johnson was 16, when he gave an audio taped confession on Septermber 15, 2006 after extended questioning by the police. Johnson recanted his confession as coerced. To avoid a longer sentence Johnons pled guilty and was sentenced to 38 years in prison. Johnson's codefendant, Kwame Wells-Jordan, who was 14 at the time of the crime, did not confess and he was acquitted after a jury trial. On October 7, 2013 Johnson's state habeas corpus petition was denied. After that denial, a reinvestigation of Johnson's case that was begun in 2010 by the Connecticut Innocence Project linked two other men to commission of the crime, including recovery of the murder weapon from one of the men, and a "conclusive" match of the other man's palm print from the victim's car. Based on the new evidence excluding Johnson as one of the perpetrators, New Haven State’s Attorney Michael Dearington filied a motion to set aside Johnson's conviction, which was granted on September 4, 2015. Johnson was immediately released from custody after nine years in custody.."
