Summary of Case:

"Michael Johnson was wrongly convicted in January 2004 of committing arson in a fire that occurred on News Year Day 2003, near his home. Johnson was targeted as a suspect because he went outside to watch the fire. Sentenced to 3 years imprisonment, Johnson was released on parole in June 2005. Johnson appealed his conviction and submitted proof that he was at home when the fire started and the fire service was called. The proof was the records created by an electronic monitoring device he was wearing at the time of the fire as part of his sentence for a conviction for possessing an offensive weapon. In May 2006, England's High Court quashed his conviction. Johnson announced his intention to seek compensation."
