Summary of Case:

"Calvin Crawford Johnson Jr. was was wrongly convicted in 1983 for the rape and burglary of a woman in Collega Park, Georgia. After his conviction by a jury, based on the woman's eyewitness identification, Calvin Johnson was sentenced to life in prison. Johnson said during his sentencing: ""With God as my witness, I have been falsely accused of these crimes. I'm an innocent man, and I pray in the name of Jesus Christ that the truth will eventually be brought out." Sixteen years later, with the help of the Innocence Project in New York, he was exonerated of the crime by post-conviction testing of DNA crime scene evidence that excluded him as the woman's assailant. On May 1, 2000 Georgia's governor signed a bill passed by the Georgia legislature awarding Calvin Johnson $500,000 in compensation."
