Summary of Case:	"David Deron Jones was wrongly convicted of possession of a controlled substance by fraud in Harris County, Texas. David Jones pled guilty and was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment. Jones did not file a direct appeal. Jones subsequently filed a writ of habeas corpus that claimed his trial counsel rendered ineffective assistance because she failed to challenge the evidence and allowed him to plead guilty to a crime he was not charged with committing. The Harris County District Attorney's Office did not oppose Jones' petition, and the trial court determined his trial counsel's performance was deficient and he was prejudiced. On November 1, 2017 the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals agreed with the District Court's recommendation and granted David Jones' writ of habeas corpus on the basis his trial lawyer provided ineffective assistance of counsel."
