Summary of Case:	"Dewey Jones was wrongly convicted in March 1995 of the the murder, robbery and kidnapping of 71-year-old Neil Rankin at his Akron, Ohio home on February 14, 1993. Post-conviction DNA testing of a rope used to tie Rankin's wrists, and a knife found at the scene excluded Jones while matching that of Gary Rusu. Jones filed a petition for a new trial based on the new evidence. In 2012 Summit County Common Pleas Judge Mary Margaret Rowlands granted Jones a new trial in ruling the absence of his DNA on the evidence "called io question the State’s entire theory of the case.” In July 2013 the Ohio Court of Appeals affirmed the judges ruling. Jones was released in mid-December 2013 on bond with ankle monitoring after 20 years in custody. On January 30, 2014 a motion by the Summit County DA's Office to dismiss the charges was granted."
