Summary of Case:

"John Jordan was wrongly convicted in January 1997 of committing a public order offense by occupying a government office in August 1996. In 2013 it was discovered that Jordan's codefendant was undercover police officer Jim Boyling, whose alias was ‘Jim Sutton’. Boyling was involved in the protest in which John Jordan was convicted of participating, and arrested and prosecuted for an offence as well. Boyling was party to confidential legal discussions between Jordan and his lawyers by pretending to be an actual co-defendant, and then evidence in court at the trial under his assumed identity. All of which was known to the prosecution but not disclosed to Jordan. Jordan filed an appeal of his conviction based on the new evidence that tainted his entire prosecution and his conviction. In September 2014 the Southwark Crown Court allowed Jordan's appeal and quashed his conviction."
