Summary of Case:	"M. K. was wrongly convicted on March 19, 2005 of murdering her step-daughter in 2003 in Sierra Leone. M.K. was arrested on May 26, 2003. After her conviction M. K. was sentenced to death. On March 3, 2011 Sierra Leone's Court of Appeal vacated M.K.'s conviction on the basis her lack of legal advice and assistance prior to her trial, and her lack of resources to file a timely appeal against her conviction were fundamental and, therefore, rendered her trial a nullity. The state declined to retry M.K. and the charges were dismissed and she was released after spending more than six years on death row."
