Summary of Case:

"Daniel Kamacho was wrongly convicted in March 1947 of the first-degree murder of a Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff on March 11, 1946. The jury relied on Daniel Kamacho's confession in July 1946, which he claimed was false because he had been in Juarez, Mexico (across from El Paso, Texas) on the day of the murder. Kamacho was sentenced to life in prison. After his conviction Mexican authorities verified that Kamacho had been in jail in Juarez from March 3 to 11, 1946. Juarez is 810 miles from Los Angeles. Based on the new evidence corroborating his alibi, Kamacho's conviction set aside and indictment were dismissed, and he was released in May 1947 after ten months in custody."
