"Peter Mwangi Kang'ethe was wrongly convicted in 2001 of robbery with violence and sentenced to death based on the testimony of his co-defendant. In 2003 the High Court upheld the conviction and sentence of Peter Kang'ethe. In June 2007 Kenya's Court of Appeal ruled that he was denied his constitutional right to cross-examine his co-defendant, and since that testimony was the only evidence against him, the Court acquitted him and ordered his immediate release. Kang'ethe was released after 7 years of wrongful imprisonment, that included 6 years on death row."
