Summary of Case:

"Entre Nax Karage was wrongly convicted in 1997 of the September 22, 1994 murder of his 14-year-old girlfriend. Post-conviction DNA testing of the spermatozoa of the woman's assailant excluded Karage. Furthermore, those tests implicated a man who had previously been convicted of a similar crime. Karage's conviction was vacated by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals in 2004 based on the new evidence casting doubt on his guilt, and he was released on bail. Karage was wrongly imprisoned for seven years. On December 22, 2005, Texas Governor Rick Perry pardoned Karage on the basis of his actual innocence. Karage was awarded $158,000 in compensation by the State of Texas."
