Summary of Case:	"Abere Karibi-Ikiriko was wrongly convicted in 2005 of the second-degree murder of her ex-boyfriend. She was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Her conviction was reversed in November 2006 by the Maryland Court of Special Appeals based on the trial judge's prejudicial error of baring seven exculpatory letters and an email from her ex-boyfriend 26-year-old Okechukwu Ohiri that showed he was willing to force Karibi-Ikiriko at gunpoint to get back together with him. On November 30, 2007, after a retrial during which the defense was able to introduce Ohiri's menacing correspondence, a jury acquitted Karibi-Ikiriko. She was released after 2 years and 10 months in custody.Karibi-Ikiriko passed away in 2012."
